  • Panasonic Announces First 8K Camera with Organic Sensor

Panasonic Announces First 8K Camera with Organic Sensor

Panasonic introduced an 8K camera in February, this year and recently an estimated date has been declared by the company for it’s launch. The 8K Multipurpose Camera AK – SHB 810 is a compact, lightweight, box – type camera that uses a PL lens mount. It features the world’s first organic sensor and arrives seven years after the technology was patented. The camera can shoot 8K / 4K / HD videos and shoots 8K at 60 fps.

    The 8K Future

Panasonic is aiming to accommodate a wide range of applications for broadcasting and video production. The company has announced it’s future plans till 2020. They wish to continue to develop 4K / 8K devices / systems. These systems can withstand actual operation, support high image quality of broadcast production and efficiency of broadcasting services. They can also contribute to the development of the broadcasting industry. Panasonic had released another 8K Super Hi-Vision recorder, the AJ – ZS 0580 last year.

Panasonic explains what an organic sensor is by stating that the sensor ‘realises a laminated structure in which an electric charge accumulation part is arranged in a lower layer by using an organic thin film for a photoelectric conversion part.’ The camera also boasts of other features such as prevention of skew distortion and flash band using a global shutter. This shutter simultaneously exposes all the pixels thus reducing the chance of any skew.

They further informed that the organic sensors can change the sensitivity by controlling the voltage applied to the organic thin film. This acts as a constantly changing virtual ND filter so to speak. Panasonic has also said that the global shutter enables photographers to not worry about random flashes from creating partial bright bands in a video. The 8K multi-purpose camera will be available in the fall of 2019.

  • CES 2016: Panasonic Transparent Displays Give Us a Peek Into the Future

CES 2016: Panasonic Transparent Displays Give Us a Peek Into the Future

For most smart-homes a shiny looking, flat-screen panel in the living room is the heart of everything smart, and beautiful. Over the years, display manufacturers have gone to great extents to create gorgeous looking TVs that not only add a dash of class to your home, but also are an embodiment of the latest technology available in the market.

Panasonic, in a bid to take things in this already heavily competitive space to another level, has come up with a new experimental screen that fades to total transparency when not in use.The display technology has such potential, that when it eventually gets retail release, it could well turn out to be one of the biggest TV advancements since the advent of the flat screen.

    panasonic display

The Japanese company revealed its transparent TV screen on the floor of CES 2016, and was greeted by never ending crowds gathered around it. The display on show was a thin LCD panel with adjustable dimensions.

According to reports, the display has a slight tint to it which the engineers at Panasonic aim to get rid of in the future. The display also for now cannot process resolutions over 1080p, but be that as it may, this concept display is still nothing short of amazing!

Just thinking about the real life applications of this tech brings a smile to our faces at iGyaan. Imagine a warm morning couple of years down the line, when you wake up to look outside your window, and lo and behold, a notification pops up on your windowpane intimating you of the weather forecast for the day, or plays a video of the goal you missed from last night’s Champion’s League game! Yes, all that, and more could well become real in the future.

  • Panasonic Lets You Click Now Focus Later

Panasonic Lets You Click Now Focus Later

Those of you who own a Panasonic Lumix GX7, G8, or FZ300 camera can expect a firmware update with a new mode called “Post Focus”. This new mode can capture up to 49 points of focus in a single burst and it works with any lens that offers auto-focus capabilities. The photographer can also review the sequence of pictures taken in the camera, and pick the ones they want to use. Apart from this, the Post Focus mode will also allow you to record 4K videos.

    Lumix GX7

The photographer can choose a focus point by tapping and swiping the touchscreen; one can also toggle through different focus points and employ assist modes. Each Lumix camera compatible with the mode has a higher megapixel count, however, the only drawback is that Post Focus mode is limited in terms of output resolution.

With this new addition, Panasonic allows you to create a picture in focus through focus stacking, combining the light-gathering and fast-shutter benefits of a wide aperture with the deep depth of field of a narrow aperture. However, parts of the process might have to be done manually. Photographers will be able to pick their point of focus using the camera’s touchscreen allowing this mode to be added to cameras with larger sensors. Overall it seems like an efficient new mode for Panasonic cameras.
