Korean electronics giant Samsung launched the Galaxy M series of smartphones back in the month of January. The first devices in the lineup were the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20, and the series saw expansion in the name of the Galaxy M30; in the month of February and the Galaxy M40 which was launched last week. The lineup has seen tremendous success and has put Samsung in level with its Chinese rivals in the budget smartphone space in India. Now, reports of another addition to the Galaxy M series has started to surface online. A handset, purported to be the Galaxy M30s has been leaked via Geekbench, a popular performance benchmarking website.

As mentioned above, the Galaxy M30s is expected to be the latest entrant in the popular Galaxy M series. According to the Geekbench listing, the smartphone has the model number SM-M307F. This is in line to the model number of the Galaxy M30 which is SM-M305F in India. The change hints at a slightly upgraded device of the same device. Other details in the lsiting includes an octa core processor with a clock speed of 1.74GHz. It is revealed to be the 10nm Exynos 9610 SoC which is also present in the Samsung Galaxy A50. The chipset consists of an Octa-core CPU and the Mali G72 MP3 GPU. It is a more powerful processor than the Galaxy M30’s Exynos 7904 which should make it a worthy performer.

It has been revealed that Korean electronics giant Samsung may launch its latest flagship smartphone; the Galaxy Note 10 on the 7th of August. Samsung Electronics filed a trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) on the 20th of June 2019. It was registered under the name Make & Play 3D and was submitted by an intermediary company named Abril Abogados from Madrid, Spain. This company has often acted on behalf of Samsung, so the connection makes sense. The description under the trademark mentions camera module for smartphones and ToF camera for smartphones. It all but confirms the presence of the sensor in at least one variant of the Galaxy Note 10; rumoured to be called the Galaxy Note 10 Pro.

A Time of Flight (ToF) sensor as rumoured on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is generally used for depth mapping and AI features in smartphones. The sensor is also seen in handsets like the Huawei P30 Pro and LG G8. Even Samsung has used a ToF sensor in its Galaxy S10 5G; which was launched back in the month of February. The naming Make and Play 3D suggests the upcoming flagship device may utilise the camera module for AR purposes. It may sport a feature similar to Google Pixel’s Playground wherein users can put objects in real time using their camera. Unfortunately, more details like the price and specifications of the Galaxy Note 10 remains shrouded in mystery. But one can expect them to be revealed as we move closer to the August launch date.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Will Boast Of A Three Stage Camera Aperture System

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Will Boast Of A Three Stage Camera Aperture System

Samsung is expected to launch its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 10 in the month of August. Leaks in the past have revealed quite a bit of information regarding the device and it is expected to be a significant update over its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 9. Now, a known gadget tipster who goes by the name Ice Universe on Twitter has revealed; that the upcoming handset from Samsung will have a revolutionary camera feature. The Galaxy Note 10 may be the world’s first smartphone with a triple variable aperture camera.

    Galaxy Note 10 Variable Aperture

As mentioned above, the tipster claims the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will have a three-stage aperture system in the camera or a triple variable aperture. Aperture is the opening in front of the sensor which lets the light pass through to it. The variable aperture system will switch between three different aperture settings, which are f/1.5, f/1.8 and f/2.4 depending upon the lighting situations. The tipster reveals the source of the information is Samsung China’s engineers; who are possibly working on the development of the upcoming flagship smartphone. It is expected that the feature will only be available in the primary camera of the Galaxy Note 10, with the rest of the sensors sporting a fixed aperture.

The variable aperture feature was introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S9 series last year in February. Since then, it has made an appearance in successive flagship smartphone launches from the company; including the Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy S10 series. The aforementioned devices, however, used a two-way variable aperture system. This means that they can switch between an aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4 depending upon the lighting conditions. Adding a triple stage variable aperture like rumoured in the Galaxy Note 10 will add a host of customisation and variations in images and video output from the device. The upcoming flagship smartphone as mentioned above may be launched on the 7th of August at an event in New York. The official announcement will confirm all the speculations and leaks so far.

  • Samsung Fixes Galaxy Fold And Is Ready For Launch

Samsung Fixes Galaxy Fold And Is Ready For Launch

Foldable smartphones were all the buzz early this year with Samsung being at the centre alongside its highly anticipated Galaxy Fold. However, the smartphone that was expected to launch in April to the global audience had been inevitably delayed. The reason for this was the display issues faced by influencers which were sent pre-release units. Unfortunately, most of these units had fatal flaws that caused Samsung to take a step back. The Korean giant now claims that Galaxy Fold has been subjected to some changes and is finally ready for the world.

Huawei in a statement had held off from releasing its own Mate X foldable handset, fearing a similar reception as Samsung. The Galaxy Fold had ensured Samsung’s win in unveiling the first foldable smartphone but lost the quality in its product. All in all the device had proven to be rushed with its various screen related problems, the very aspect which was key. Ever since then Samsung has publicly announced that it has fixed issues that were plaguing its foldable devices screen. The tech giant further on, even claimed that the Galaxy Fold is even ready to be shipped to the international market.

The news was broken down by a senior company executive and Samsung is expected to bring an official announcement soon regarding the commercial availability. Notably, the company’s spokesperson’s have had a varying degree of replies to the initial debacle faced by the Galaxy Fold. The month of May had seen the company claim the device is ready, which was followed by a report that detailed how no progress was made. The latest announcement was made directly by Samsung’s Vice President and are likely to be more reliable than the ones in the past.

The Galaxy Fold is confirmed to launch soon by the company, although exact details have yet to be discerned. Speculations have popped up that even point at launch right before the upcoming flagship, the Galaxy Note 10. Since the initial release was planned for the US in April, it may see a similar trend in the coming weeks. Information will be available once updates are given out by the company.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10’s Display Will Double Up As A Speaker

Samsung Galaxy Note 10’s Display Will Double Up As A Speaker

Samsung’s latest Note series flagship is right around the corner with other big releases like the upcoming Apple iPhone 2019 and Google’s Pixel 4 line up. The Korean company will have to pull out an amazing feature or function with the new device to make it stand a cut above the rest. Amidst the various rumours, new reports by a renowned leakster reveal a new ‘Sound on Display’ technology for the Galaxy Note 10.

Ice Universe, the source, leaked Samsung’s new proprietary feature on Twitter. This implied that the tech giant is letting go of the earpiece systems that have been used so far for a new feature to facilitate calls. Within the tweet, a couple of images were shared as well. These images showcased screen protectors that showcased negligible bezels on the Galaxy Note 10 save a punch hole camera cut out.

    Galaxy Note 10

Sound on Display is a feature that will have vibrations travel through the screen and to the user’s ears when they receive a call. In practice, the feature on the Galaxy Note 10 will function similar to any other handset. According to the aforementioned images, both the Pro and non-Pro will incorporate the new technology. Notably, Samsung is not the first manufacturer to bring this function to mainstream markets, Huawei and LG have previously equipped their flagships with the same. In fact, the company has already tried it once on its own M series lineup. The Samsung Galaxy M40 received mixed reception for the substitute tech over an earpiece with concerns regarding quality.

Reports have even claimed that the Galaxy Note 10 may also feature traditional speakers alongside the Sound on Display feature. However, no concrete evidence has been uncovered and a simple screen protector does not always paint a true picture. Furthermore, it is still highly likely as Samsung has already included the feature in mid-range smartphones and the upcoming Note 10 will probably seek to innovate where possible.

  • Samsung Patents A Gaming Laptop With Expandable Display

Samsung Patents A Gaming Laptop With Expandable Display

Earlier this year, the Korean electronics manufacturer, Samsung launched its first smartphone with a foldable display in the form of Galaxy Fold. Freshly granted patent to Samsung states that the company is working on yet another distinctive device which is a gaming laptop with an extendable display.

    Patent Disclosures

Samsung Laptop Extendable DisplaySamsung filed the patent for the aforementioned gaming laptop with KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office) on December 2018 which was published on the 3rd of June 2019. The patent includes 14 sketches which showcase the different elements of the unique notebook computer. The standout feature of the laptop is apparently the display which expands to transform into an ultra wide screen.

Although the patent does not mention, the Samsung laptop’s display seems to have a conventional 16:9 aspect ratio which when expanded or rolled out converts into a display with 21:9 aspect ratio. This expansion of display provides an additional 50 percent screen real estate which can be crucial for gamers. Noteworthy, most FPS (first person shooter) games can benefit from this wide of a display as it provides a wider FOV (field of view) which in turn gives the user a competitive advantage. The patent, however, does not reveal how Samsung intends the laptop to achieve this functionality due to lack of illustrations of the inner mechanism. Though, it seems that would incorporate technology similar to what a previously patented Samsung smartphone uses. Or rather it could also use technology similar to LG’s previously showcased rollable TVs with a flexible display.

All in all, the previously achieved technological feats by Samsung suggest that a gaming laptop with this feature is not farfetched. And Samsung may surprise the world soon by launching a commercially available gaming laptop with an extendable display.

Samsung with the Galaxy S10 5G’s introduction in the European market will ensure its place as one of the first OEMs to be prepared for the 5G wave. Hence, the smartphone manufacturer will be ready as the demand grows and the network matures into mainstream levels of consumption.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Launch Date Leaked

Korean electronics giant Samsung is best known for its smartphones. The company launches its flagship smartphones twice a year, once at the beginning with the Galaxy S series, and then in the third quarter with the Galaxy Note series. As it has already introduced the Galaxy S10 lineup in the month of February this year, it is expected the Galaxy Note 10 will also be announced in the following weeks. Now, to confirm all suspicions, a report has leaked the launch date of the upcoming flagship device from Samsung. It is being claimed that the Galaxy Note 10 will officially be unveiled on the 7th of August.

As mentioned above, the report claims the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will be launched on the 7th of August in the official Unpacked event. As far as the location of the announcement is concerned; it has been revealed that the smartphone will be unveiled at the Barclays centre in Brooklyn, New York. Notably, this is the same venue where the device’s predecessor, the Galaxy Note 9 was launched last year on the 9th of August. While the information seems genuine, the date and venue can be changed before the official announcement as there is still time before the launch.

The Galaxy Note 10 is expected to be a considerable improvement over its predecessor. Past leaks have claimed the smartphone will arrive in four variants, out of which at least one will support 5G; the next generation of mobile networks. The device will have a centred punch hole cutout to house the front camera and will have a vertical camera setup. This is unlike the horizontal camera systems the Galaxy S10 series employs. The leaks have also claimed the handset will let go of the 3.5mm headphone jack, which will be a first for a mainstream Samsung flagship. It is also expected to be priced considerably more than the Galaxy S10 series. While most details about the Galaxy Note 10 are all but confirmed; we will still have to wait for the official announcement in the month of August to douse our suspicions.

  • Galaxy Note 10 Screen Protector Reaffirms Centre Mounted Punch Hole

Galaxy Note 10 Screen Protector Reaffirms Centre Mounted Punch Hole

With each passing day, new leaks corresponding to the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Pro surface. Afresh, the glass screen protector of both the flagship grade devices has surfaced on Chinese social media website, Weibo, revealing key details about their front design.

The alleged screen protector of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Pro states that both the handsets have a centre mounted punch hole near the top bezel which houses a single selfie camera. Furthermore, they exhibit a taper towards the side which states the upcoming smartphones will have a curved display like the Galaxy S10 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. Noteworthy, the punch hole in the screen protectors is smaller in comparison to previously launched Samsung smartphones having this feature including the Galaxy A8s. Although the present leak does not reveal any specification of the Note 10 lineup, they can be derived from past leaks and reports.

In terms of screen size, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is reported to have a 6.4 inch display while the Pro variant is reported to have a 6.7 inch display. Under the hood, the devices are assumed to pack the Snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9820 SoC which will be dependent on the region the devices are sold in. For photography, the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Pro is claimed to have a quad rear camera setup which is also proposed by the leaked cases. According to a past leak, the devices will have a battery larger than 4,000 mAh with the Pro variant being powered by a 4,500 mAh cell.

  • Samsung Patents Smartphone With Dual Display

Samsung Patents Smartphone With Dual Display

The latest generation of smartphones follows a trend that has seen many OEMs try making an all display front panel. Hence, this sought to innovatively hide or exclude the front-facing camera altogether. Samsung was the first to introduce a punch hole front camera with the Galaxy A8s and now brings a new take to the mix. A freshly patented Galaxy device will apparently not have a front-facing camera and rather feature a display at the back which can be used to take selfies from the rear mounted camera.

    Samsung

Devices such as the OnePlus 7 Pro, that feature a pop-up front camera have become increasingly more common. Some even sport rotating and shifting cameras as well (see Samsung A80). The point of having a smaller display on the back extends to the ability to use the rear camera for taking selfies. Samsung is not the first with this workaround, Vivo Nex and Nubia X also feature a dual display functionality.

The Korean company had previously filed a patent for a double-sided display, and now it is seeing its first implementation. The patents filed had showcased designs for the dual-display device that is taking a real form in development stages. The secondary display, according to the designs, is placed at the back right below the primary camera and is about half the size of the front screen. This makes selfie shots possible as the preview can be displayed on the back while clicking a photograph.

    Samsung

Apart from the photography implications of the patented dual-screen smartphone, no other information or features can be garnered. Looking at the renders, it is clear that there is no front camera only a speaker grill, and no 3.5mm headphone jack either. Any sign of a fingerprint sensor is also indiscernible, so an in-display sensor is probably the case. It is highly unlikely for Samsung to roll out this new feature on its flagship S series devices. However, the Samsung Galaxy A series might be the perfect place for testing such designs.

The A series was the first to introduce a triple and quad camera set up alongside a new rotating camera technology for the company. So it is not far off to assume that the upcoming innovative device will be featured in this bold series. Samsung’s debacle with its foldable smartphone should make it more cautious over new releases but its brave steps forward are always appreciated by the industry and its community.

To maximise the screen real estate, the smartphone sports a hole punch cutout to house the front camera on the top left of the display, like the Honor View20; however, unlike that smartphone, the latest device eliminates the earpiece in favour of the company’s “screen sound” technology. This vibrates the entirety of the display to generate sound inside voice calls. For quickly accessing the handset, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner with support for face unlock is also present on the Galaxy M40.

The Galaxy M40 is kitted with the 10nm Snapdragon 675 SoC under the hood. It is comprised of an Octa-core CPU and the Adreno 612 GPU. It consists of an f/1.7 aperture equipped 32MP primary camera; combined with an f/2.2 aperture equipped 8MP ultra wide angle sensor and an f/2.2 aperture equipped 5MP depth sensor. For selfies, an f/2.0 aperture equipped 16MP camera is expected to be housed in the punch hole cutout on top of the display. The Galaxy M40 has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which supports memory expansion via microSD.

The Samsung Galaxy M40 is powered by a 3500 mAh battery with support for 15W charging. The smartphone runs on the latest OneUI skin on top of Android 9 Pie. The top of the alleged Galaxy Note 10 Pro has two cutouts which may be for the 3.5 mm audio jack and secondary microphone. Samsung Galaxy Fold To Be Delayed Further, Might Launch After August

Samsung introduced its first foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold at the Unpacked event back in the month of February alongside the Galaxy S10 series. It was revealed that the sales for the device will start from the 26th of April. However, early review units of the handsets started breaking and malfunctioning for reviewers. This led to the company recalling all review units and release a statement that the launch date of the Galaxy Fold has been delayed. It has been over two months now, and no official re-launch date for the smartphone has been provided by Samsung. Now, a senior company executive has told a Korean media outlet that the launch is being delayed further, as no progress has been made on the device.

    Galaxy Fold Delay

    Samsung Galaxy Fold

As mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy Fold has been delayed once again in hitting the market. While it was being speculated that the smartphone will be reintroduced in the month of July, a senior Samsung executive has revealed that is not the case. He claims that if a launch was scheduled within a month from now, an announcement would have been already made. It has also been revealed that no progress has been made since the recall of the device in the month of April. It may insinuate that the company has not found a real solution for the hinge problem with the handset, or it hasn’t progressed with a new launch date. With the latest news of a delay, the Samsung Galaxy Fold may be launched after the Galaxy Note 10; which is speculated to launch in the month of August.

Even though the company previously claimed that it has successfully eliminated all the problems with the device, a statement regarding the launch date is still awaited.

Samsung Files A Trademark For The Galaxy Tab Active Pro Tablet

Samsung previously unveiled the Galaxy Tab Active 2 in October 2017. The 8-inch display equipped tablet was primarily designed for rugged usage. The Galaxy Tab S5e is the latest tablet from the company. As per reports, the South Korean company may add a new variant to the Galaxy Tab lineup in the near future, known as the Tab Active Pro.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active Pro Trademark

The trademark for the tablet was filed by Samsung Electronics on June 13, 2019 with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for the name “Tab Active Pro”. The Class 9 trademark bears the description ‘tablet computers and portable computers’. The company that filed the trademark has been often linked with Samsung. For instance, the same company filed a patent for the name “Dynamic AMOLED display” for the Galaxy S10 lineup

Noteworthy, there is no inclusion of the name “Galaxy” anywhere in the trademark. However, at the time of launch, the company is likely to incorporate the “Galaxy” prefix with the tablet’s name. Its predecessor i.e. Galaxy Tab Active 2 features IP68 water and dust resistance and is MIL-STD-810G compliant. It runs on the Exynos 7870 chipset, which comprises of an octa-core 1.6 GHz Cortex A53 CPU. It was bundled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with expansion support via microSD (up to 256GB).
