Galaxy Note 10 And Pixel 4 Launch Revealed

A new leak has surfaced that points at the supposed launch of the upcoming Google and Samsung flagships. The Galaxy Note 10 and Pixel 4 smartphones release date was apparently detailed by Verizon, a cellular network provider, in the company’s roadmap. This release cycle will in a manner follow the same pattern and release bracket of the latest generation iPhones.

    Galaxy Note 10 Render

The Google Pixel 4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10 had both of their respective launch dates uncovered by a well-known leakster on Twitter. A photo tweeted by Evan Blass (@evleaks) showcased an October launch for Pixel 4, while the Galaxy Note 10 will receive an August release date. Apple’s  2019 iPhone, on the other hand, sits in the middle of both these releases, with a September reveal.

The Pixel 4 launch is similar to that of last years, denying rumours of an early launch despite Google revealing an early look at the smartphone. Furthermore, both the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Google Pixel 4 are being prepared for a launch in the latter halves of their respective month of launch. The iPhone is also expected to launch near the end of September. It can be noted that the aforementioned companies still have a couple of months between the launches and the dates might change.

    Pixel 4

The Galaxy Note 10 will be the latest entry in the popular Note series by Samsung. Apart from leaks, rumours and a couple of educated guesses, not a lot of information on the upcoming flagship is available. Renders of the smartphone have suggested that bezels have been trimmed even further. A picture of the protective screen guard for the device has made it apparent that bezel sizes are noticeably smaller when compared to the Galaxy Note 9.

Samsung’s 64 MP Sensor To Debut In A Redmi Smartphone

Samsung announced the 64 MP camera sensor for smartphones last month. It holds the records the record for the highest resolution mobile camera sensor ever made. While it was being speculated that the first device to sport the sensor would be a Samsung handset, presumably the Galaxy A70s; fresh reports claim otherwise. Popular gadget tipster Ice Universe has claimed on the Chinese social networking website Weibo; that the first smartphone with Samsung’s 64 MP ISOCELL GW1 sensor will belong to Xiaomi’s subsidiary Redmi.

The tipster claims that as mentioned above, the first smartphone with Samsung’s flagship 64 MP sensor will be a Redmi device. He further adds that while the international premiere of the sensor will still belong to a Samsung handset, an A series one to be precise; the first Chinese smartphone, and presumably the world’s first to sport the sensor will not be the company’s own. While other details about the Redmi device are not known at the moment, the handset may be introduced in the following weeks. This may be followed by the International release of the purported Galaxy A70s with the ISOCELL GW1 sensor.

Samsung introduced the ISOCELL GW1 sensor in the aforementioned month of May. It features an 0.8-micrometre pixel size, which is claimed to be one of the smallest in the world. The smartphone camera sensor is capable of pixel binning, which means that four pixels will get merged into one to result in a 16 MP resolution image. This is similar to how the 48 MP sensors like the Sony IMX586 and Samsung ISOCELL GM1 work. Notably, Xiaomi was one of the first company’s to release a smartphone with a 48 MP Samsung sensor in the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 7 back in the month of January.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10: Everything We Know So Far

Samsung has been busy in the year 2019. Barely half a year has gone by but various devices in diverse price ranges have already been released. The new launches have been received warmly so far with its Galaxy S10 lineup to even the affordable Galaxy M series of smartphones. The next big upcoming release for the South Korean company will most definitely be the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.

    Price and Availability

    Samsung Galaxy Note 10

Reports point that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will be revealed to the world in the month of August, hitting the shelves in September thereon. Samsung usually releases the Note series flagship around Apple’s iPhone release cycle. Price of the handset should be similar to the Galaxy S10’s price which starts from $999 (approx. Rs.69,000). This is still unconfirmed as rumours also suggest a price bump over the S series flagship by over $100 to $200, having a base price upwards of $1100.

    Two Variants

    Samsung Galaxy Note 10

The tech giant is rumoured to be working on two different sized variants for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, a first for the company. The difference between the versions will be of screen size, one will sport a larger 6.7-inch display while the other is reported to be equipped with a 6.4-inch display. This report has not been confirmed by Samsung yet. Furthermore, two more irregularities to the Note devices have also been rumoured, these would feature a 5G networking capable version of the aforementioned handsets.

    Seamless Design

Samsung was one of the last bastions for the 3.5mm headphone jack, that is now available in mid to low range smartphones. Interestingly, leaks point at the company going one step beyond and making the device completely devoid of all physical buttons as well. This rumour is still one of the highly unlikely ones to be true, as sources claim a seamless device was an early prototype by Samsung.

    Camera

Samsung has been steadily adding more cameras sensors to its flagship line up in the last couple of years. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 might one-up the Galaxy S10 by featuring a quad-camera module setup at the back. One lens would comprise the standard camera, whereas one a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The company might also include wide-angle lens but what the fourth camera sensor could be is still a mystery.

    In-Display Fingerprint Sensor

The Galaxy S10 had a hit or miss reception to its in-display fingerprint scanner. The first of its kind ultrasonic scanner was a hit on paper but in practice, the implementation by Samsung felt glitchy. The Note 10, however, could bring improvements to the functionality of this feature. A prospect welcomed by all prospective buyers.

    Chipset and Storage Options

Going with the most powerful smartphone chipset available in the market currently, The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will likely house the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. The Exynos 9825 versions will also be seen alongside the device in certain countries. The upcoming Note series will probably cross 10GB of RAM and go upwards to 12GB. Since the Galaxy S10 Plus features 128GB of internal storage in one of its variants, the Note 10 will probably feature 128GB base storage to 1TB in the higher specced versions.

It is still too early to draw any conclusive assumptions about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10 since the handset still has two months to its launch. However, many of Samsungs loyal fan base would like to see a refresh of the long drawn series with the 10th iteration of the popular flagship lineup.

  • AT&T To Cancel All Galaxy Fold Pre Orders

AT&T To Cancel All Galaxy Fold Pre Orders

Samsung’s premier foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold is highly awaited by customers who preordered the device back in the month of April. The smartphone has been a centre of buzz being the first foldable device from the company in the market. However, when the handset started breaking for some reviewers across the globe, the company had something to be worried about. Previously, the company had announced that the Galaxy Fold units will be shipped out to customers in the month of June, but since then, no update has been provided by the concerned authorities. In the light of the event, American telecommunications conglomerate, AT&T has cancelled pre-orders for the Galaxy Fold smartphone.

    Samsung Galaxy Fold AT&T

All the customers who pre-ordered the $1,980 Galaxy Fold device received notices from AT&T stating that their order has been cancelled. Even though customers would again be able to place orders when Samsung announces an official launch date, those who were waiting eagerly for the rollout of the device will be quite disappointed about this.

The email from AT&T clearly informs that the order is only being cancelled because Samsung delayed the launch of the Galaxy Fold, clearing all responsibilities from its side. As compensation, the company also provided a US$ 100 AT&T Promotional Card to the customers who pre-ordered the device, which will be delivered within 60 days. Any funds held on to the customer’s card will be released immediately as stated by the company.

The Galaxy Fold faced issues with its screen and hinge in the month of April 2019. Some reviewers inadvertently peeled off a protective covering (which acted as an adhesive), leading to screen breakage. Others had issues arising because of the material (dust and debris) that entered the gap in the phone’s hinge. Even though the company previously claimed that it has successfully eliminated all the problems with the device, a statement regarding the launch date is still awaited.

  • Samsung To Unveil New Portable T7 Plus SSD

Samsung To Unveil New Portable T7 Plus SSD

Samsung has developed a new external Solid State Drive (SSD), T7 Plus portable SSD, which is the successor to the T5 SSD. The company had first introduced portable SSD T5 back in 2017. The storage hardware was available in four different variants, namely 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB, and four colour variations, ocean blue, deep black, metallic red, and rose gold. The Korean company will announce a new SSD in the same T-series of SSD, according to a trademark application. Samsung

Samsung Electronics on 12th June 2019 applied for the name Samsung Portable SSD T7 Plus at the Intellectual Property Office in Great Britain. The trademark falls under the Class 9 category carrying the description of a ‘solid state drive; data storage device.’ The tech giant has not given out any finer details regarding the specifications of the new storage device. However, it can be gathered that the external SSD probably is similar to the T5 but with performance improvements across the board.

    Samsung

The T7 portable SSD, as the name suggests is most likely a made on a streamlined, light and compact chassis. Furthermore, features such as capable storage capacity and password protection will likely be available, being the norm. Alongside this upcoming official announcement, Samsung unveiled a Portable SSD X5, a first of its kind SSD that is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and NVMe that makes data transfer even quicker. This portable SSD is noticeably larger, however, with a heftier price tag than the T5.

It is still uncertain exactly when Samsung’s Portable SSD T7 Plus will be announced. The upcoming storage device will probably be a successor to T5 rather than the X5 SSD. Samsung will probably announce the T7 in the IFA (The Internationale Funkausstellung), an annual consumer electronics and home appliances exhibition in Berlin. The event takes place from the 6th to the 11th of September.

Samsung Launches The 292 Inch, 8K Wall Luxury TV

Samsung has been a pioneer in display innovation for the better part of the last decade. The company has been constantly received praise for its displays used in various smartphones like the Galaxy S10 series and its television offerings. Earlier this year, Samsung promised a range of luxury televisions based on its microLED technology. The display sizes of the device range from 73 inches to a whopping 292 inches.

As mentioned above, the wall luxury range of televisions is the latest display offering by the South Korean electronics giant. While the 73-inch version of the TV is available in a resolution of 1080p or FullHD, the resolution increases with the size. The 292 inch TV in the series, which measures over 24 feet diagonally is available in 8K resolution. • Samsung Patents Smartphone With 3D Curved Display

Samsung Patents Smartphone With 3D Curved Display

Smartphone brands are constantly experimenting new device designs to improve user functionality. Along the same lines, South Korean company Samsung seems to be working on a device with a screen that curves towards the edges. Although smartphones with 3D curved glass have been around for quite some time now, the patented design has some notably unique aspects.

    About The Patent

    Samsung curved smartphone

The patent regarding the “curved-screen device” was filed with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) by Samsung towards the latter half of the year 2018. It exhibits an ‘Electronic device with full display’ i.e a smartphone with an edge to edge display. Furthermore, the camera and additional sensors are placed under the display of the smartphone. A similar technology was previously shown off by Chinese brands Xiaomi and Oppo. The patent was filed on the behalf of both USA and Korea, which was published on June 6, 2019.

Images included in the patent exhibit slightly curved shape of the device. The central section of the display is rendered as a flat surface, whereas the surrounding modules have a 3D curved design. The framework of the Samsung device is equally angled to the display at all points, which implies that the handset will have increased resistance to accidental drops. Notably, the patent includes two different device models: one with a thinner frame and the other with a noticeably thicker and wider frame than its counterpart.

    Samsung curved smartphone

As per renders, the back panel of the device seems to be fabricated out of glass. If the company decides to use a metal housing for such a device, the casing can double up as an antenna for the smartphone. However, if the company decides to incorporate a glass housing, wireless charging can be made possible in the Samsung device. The interesting fact about the handset design is the presence of a similar curvature on the back. Such a curvature would mean that the device is slimmer towards the sides than the middle. As previously mentioned, the patent states that such a design would improve the user’s grip on the device.

Regarding features, Samsung’s patent images point towards the presence of multiple rear camera sensors, that are placed in a vertical arrangement. As mentioned before, the front camera and sensors (such as the proximity sensor, flood illuminator) will be placed beneath the display. The right side of the device accommodates a single key, which indicates that the volume rockers may be capacitative. Overall, the curved smartphone design is a fresh take on compact yet attractive devices. Since the technology required to manufacture such a device wholly exists in the present day, Samsung may soon reveal more details about this concept.

Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9+ Cameras Receive Night Mode With Latest Update

Samsung used to be rather infamous for its slow update cycles in the recent past. However, with the adoption of the One UI, this trend has changed for the better, with a lot more diverse range of devices receiving Android Pie. The Korean giant is releasing a new software build that will update the last years’ flagships the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+. Following the update, both handsets will receive the Night Mode feature which allows in capturing well lit pictures in dark lighting conditions.

    Samsung

The latest build will carry the Galaxy S10 camera feature via an OTA update. Samsung freshly reworked its ‘Bright Night’ camera mode into a standalone Night mode feature, similar to that Google’s Night Sight and Huawei’s Night Vision. Previously, the camera software analyzed the ambient conditions and toggled the Night mode automatically but over an update, the feature can also be manually activated.

    Samsung Galaxy S10

In addition to the camera functionality, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are also receiving June 2019s Android Security patch with the said update. Night mode, a dedicated long-exposure feature that lowers shutter speed for brighter images in low light conditions, can now be toggled by swiping across the camera UI. A new background blur intensity bad for the selfie camera in Live Focus mode is also included in the update. Samsung is also seeking to improve the stability of inbuilt apps such as Messaging, Contacts and Gallery. The changelog has pointed at the company improving overall system security with over 11 vulnerabilities being checked in the software.

    Samsung Galaxy M40

    Samsung Galaxy M40

As mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy M40 is the latest mid-range offering from the company. The device features a polycarbonate body with an attractive gradient coloured back. It has a 6.3 inch LCD Infinity-O display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 px. To maximise the screen real estate, the smartphone sports a hole punch cutout to house the front camera on the top left of the display, like the Honor View20; however, unlike that smartphone, the latest device eliminates the earpiece in favour of the company’s “screen sound” technology. This vibrates the entirety of the display to generate sound inside voice calls. For quickly accessing the handset, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner with support for face unlock is also present on the Galaxy M40.

The Galaxy M40 is kitted with the 10nm Snapdragon 675 SoC under the hood. It is comprised of an Octa-core CPU and the Adreno 612 GPU. The processor is also seen in smartphones from the likes of the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A70. In terms of optics, the device has a triple rear camera setup. It consists of an f/1.7 aperture equipped 32MP primary camera; combined with an f/2.2 aperture equipped 8MP ultra wide angle sensor and an f/2.2 aperture equipped 5MP depth sensor. For selfies, an f/2.0 aperture equipped 16MP camera is expected to be housed in the punch hole cutout on top of the display. The Galaxy M40 has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which supports memory expansion via microSD.

The Samsung Galaxy M40 is powered by a 3500 mAh battery with support for 15W charging. The smartphone runs on the latest OneUI skin on top of Android 9 Pie. This will make it the first device in the Galaxy M series to feature Android Pie out of the box. The handset is available in two colour options, Midnight Blue and Seawater Blue.

  • Samsung Patents Smartphone With Extendable Display

Samsung Patents Smartphone With Extendable Display

The company which brought the first foldable smartphone to the market is reportedly working on another unique device with an equally unique display. Previously, a Samsung device with a flexible display was reported to be in the works. However, this time, the display is not just flexible. A fresh patent reveals that the South Korean company is developing a device with a special set of features.

    About The Patent
    Samsung Extendable Smartphone

The aforementioned patent was originally filed with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) for an ‘Electronic device including a flexible display with expandable display area’ on November 28, 2018. The patent was published less than a year later on June 6 2019. It describes a smartphone with a roll-out flexible display that can create an extra large screen surface to use. Since the user preference is shifting towards larger sized smartphones, it makes sense to innovate a new technology such as this one.

The “non-extended” state of the Samsung smartphone looks like any traditional smartphone. The bezels on the top and the bottom are quite prominent, opposed to the bezel-less smartphones in trend these days. However, the design of the device shouldn’t be taken for granted, since the primary motive of the patent is to depict the working and design of the extendable display module. The final design of such a device can differ significantly from the original renders.

    Samsung Extendable Smartphone

Using a slider system, users can create an elongated screen surface that may have several implications. For instance, the smartphone can be useful while scrolling through web pages, or it can be used to play games that require a large screen surface, for instance, PUBG Mobile. Moreover, users can also use the expanded display on the Samsung smartphone to accommodate more users on the display during a video call or a conference call. The display is stored in a central housing so as to prevent any form of external damage. The sliding mechanism can be triggered automatically or manually.

As per the patent images, the forehead of the Samsung smartphone will house the earpiece as well as an LED notification indicator. The upper bezel also accommodates the front camera sensors. Optics also includes a dual rear camera setup. A USB Type-C port is present at the bottom of the device. If the flexible-cum-expandable smartphone design is viable, the company may use the technology to manufacture tablets in the future as well.

Battery Capacity Of The Upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Series Revealed

Samsung is known for launching its Galaxy Note series smartphones at the end of summer every year. Going by the same launch cycle, the South Korean company’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy Note 10 is expected to be unveiled in the month of August 2019. Ahead of its official announcement, rumours regarding the device have started to surface. For instance, the company is planning to introduce at least two Note models this year, which are the Note 10 and the Note 10 Pro. Leaks suggest that both the devices will pack a 4,170 mAh battery.

    Galaxy Note 10 Pro Renders

As per sources, the model numbers for the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Pro will be SM-N975 and SM-N976 respectively. Reports further state that the model numbers were attributed to a single model with 4G and 5G support respectively. In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Note 10 is expected to feature a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen. In terms of storage, the device packs 128 GB ROM for the base variant. It is most likely to be powered by a 4,170 mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging, although rumours regarding 25W fast charging have also surfaced.

On the other hand, the specced-up variant of the Note 10, the Note 10 Pro will feature a larger 6.8 inch AMOLED display and the same 4,170 mAh battery present in its younger sibling. The Pro version would pack 256GB of internal storage for the base variant, with an option to expand to 1TB of ROM. Since a larger display will consume more battery, the battery life of the Note 10 Pro will definitely undercut that of the Galaxy Note 10.

In terms of the front camera, a camera sensor housed in the centre-mounted hole-punch would be used to click selfies.
