Galaxy Note 10 Will Allegedly Support 20 W Wireless Charging, First On A Samsung Device

With each passing day, more details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10 lineup surface online. This time details related to the smartphones charging wattage has been revealed by notable tipster @Rquandt.

The source alleged that the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 will support 20 W fast charging which was reassured by a Japanese user. A picture shared by the latter shows a wireless charger which can charge a Samsung smartphone or wearable device with 20 W of maximum power. Surprisingly, not only will upcoming smartphones from the Korean manufacturer be able to take charge at this high wattage but it will also be able to reverse charge other devices at the same rate. Until now, only the Mi Mix 3 can wirelessly charge at 20W but it cannot reverse charge at this high rate.

Besides, the 20 W fast wireless charging, the upcoming flagship grade smartphone will also reportedly support 45 W wired charging which will be fastest on any Samsung smartphone till date. The current leak does not provide any other details about the upcoming Note 10 but they can be derived from past leaks.

Unlike previous generations, the Galaxy Note 10 will be offered in four different variants which include the standard Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 10+ and Galaxy Note 10 5G. Out of the four devices, the ‘e’ variant will be the most affordable while the ‘5G’ variant will be most expensive.

In terms of looks, the Galaxy Note 10 smartphones will have a punch hole in the display to accommodate the selfie camera. Even though this type of display is also present on the Galaxy S10 lineup, the punch hole on the future smartphones will be considerably smaller. Staple to flagship handsets from Samsung, the upcoming devices will also have AMOLED display.

Under the hood, all four variants of the Galaxy Note 10 lineup will be kitted with the Snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9820 SoC which will be dependent on the region the smartphone is sold in. Usually, Samsung devices sold in North America and China have Snapdragon chipset and devices sold in the rest of the regions have Exynos which is likely to happen with the Note 10 lineup as well.

Fake Update App Fools 10 Million Samsung Galaxy Owners

The Google Play Store has been subjected to multiple incidents for unknowingly circulating applications that are ridden with malware or adware. In the lookout for the latest firmware updates, 10 Million Samsung Galaxy smartphone owners downloaded a fake app from the Play Store.

The “Updates For Samsung” application which has now been taken down from the Play Store is not affiliated with Samsung (yet distributing their firmware). Shockingly, the application offered an annual subscription of US $ 34.99 in exchange for allowing users to download the latest software updates in exchange for high-speed downloads which are freely available in fact (explained later). Samsung Galaxy S10

Besides, the “Updates For Samsung” app did provide free updates but the downloads were capped to 56 kbps. Therefore, it would take days or even weeks to download an update package which would not weigh more than 2 GB. Hence, a large number of users fell for the trap and ended up paying for the subscription.

Adding further to the list of concerns is the fact that payments made to purchase a subscription on “Updates For Samsung” were processed through the companies own website and not Google Play which is usually a case.

Furthermore, the “Updates For Samsung” application was loaded with adware and some users complained that it was extremely resource hungry. One user wrote that it could bring the flagship grade Galaxy S10 to a grinding halt which would require a reboot to return to a functional stage. Samsung Galaxy A50

In case you did not know, every Samsung smartphone has a built-in update checker which can be used to install the latest firmware update without any additional cost. Following is the method that will allow you to check and update your Samsung Galaxy smartphone:

    • Find the Settings app among your listed apps and open it.
    • Look for Software Update in the search tab.
    • Click Check For Updates
    • Scroll through Settings and click on Software Update
    • If an update is available, click Download.
    • Once downloaded, press install.

Installing an OTA (Over The Air) update can usually take anywhere between 10 minutes to an hour. Even longer in an rare case.

Make sure your device is charged enough to run through the complete installation process or keep it connected to a wall charger.

Samsung Galaxy Owners Accuse Company Of Misleading IP Rating

Anyone who owns a TV will have inadvertently seen a Samsung ad for its Galaxy smartphones. The South Korean company is one of the largest mobile OEM in the world and has the capital to heavily invest in marketing their various products. Problem thereon lies with companies being capable of illustrating their devices with an over-the-top or exaggerated fashion.

Samsung is currently being charged for such a fraud on misleading advertisement by the Australian Government.

    Samsung

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has alleged that Samsung is misleading its customers over the nature of its various water resistant smartphones. The ACCC claims that the company has portrayed its handsets in or near unsuitable environments such as swimming pools and oceans since 2016. Furthermore, Samsung reportedly did not have any grounds to illustrate it in an aforementioned manner.

    Samsung

Samsung sells a good portion of its smartphone lineups with IP68 water resistance; this means that it can last in 1.5meters deep water for 30 minutes. However, the ACCC pointed out, that this does not cover all types of water. The tech giant has claimed themselves that the Galaxy S10 isn’t suitable for beach use. Samsung is allegedly attracting customers with false ads that are not suitable for real-world practices. The corrosive nature of water with a high amount of salt is not taken into account in such ads. It can potentially harm the water-resistant devices and cause loses to unaware users.

Samsung is reportedly going to take a stand and stick to its marketing strategies. The company will fight the case against the Government agency’s allegations. These practices can go on to harm lower business rivals and other companies. Companies like these do not have such a large sum of monetary funding.

Samsung Re-Engineers The Galaxy Fold, May Launch With Galaxy Note 10

Samsung’s first foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold was unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event that took place in the month of February. However, due to the display issues faced by early users of the smartphone, Samsung had to push back its launch date. Unfortunately, Samsung could not ship out the devices even at the revised date.

Amidst all the embarrassment that Galaxy Fold has brought to Samsung’s brand image, a latest piece of information suggests, that the company has finally fixed the device which is expected to launch soon.

Samsung Galaxy FoldAccording to a Bloomberg report, with the latest iteration, Samsung has stretched the protective film that covers the Galaxy Fold’s display and tucked it under the outer bezels. Therefore, it is impossible for a user to peel it, unlike prior which was observed with early units shipped to reviewers. In addition, Samsung has also re-engineered the hinge of the Galaxy Fold which now sits flush with the display. Hence, the second issue that was reported in the form of a visible crease has also been fixed.

Besides, the report states that Samsung is likely to start shipping the major components of the Galaxy Fold (including battery and display) to an assembly plant in Vietnam where it will be put together.Samsung Galaxy Fold

  • Samsung Is Developing A Smartphone With Expandable Display

Samsung Is Developing A Smartphone With Expandable Display

Samsung has been working on developing unique smartphones with flexible displays for years now. The company’s first commercially available foldable device arrived as the Galaxy Fold. However, the device had failed even before it had launched due to fundamental functional flaws within its design. Reports have since surfaced state that the tech giant is already planning on other foldable devices and now even an expandable display smartphone.

    Samsung

The South Korean company has already patented the expandable display designs for a laptop. Furthermore, The latest patent showcases a unique new design for the upcoming rollable display smartphone. Schematics of the device show a retractable flexible display on a smartphone. The screen on this device is capable of being pulled out via a rolling mechanism, which may be automatic. Once fully extended the device will see a three times growth in screen size.

The mechanism is enabled through a combination of moving rails with Samsung’s flexible screen. Basically, one can carry the device in a compact form factor until they eventually require it. The phone will look like any other modern handset once in its smaller state although with rounded corners. The rollable smartphone has noticeable bezels on the top and bottom that house the necessary sensors like camera, earpiece and fingerprint scanner. These wide borders will also house the motor that runs the rolling mechanism.

The frame of the rolling mechanism flank the left and right side and also provide a grip for when users unroll the phone. When seen from the back, supporting rails are revealed when the Samsung device is completely extended. The rails should provide support for the moving mechanism while fitting into slots perfectly, making it appear seamless. It is sceptical just how practical the system will be in real-world practice; as dust and wear and tear may negatively affect the system. Damage or bends on any of the rail will also cause it to be imperfect and not fall back into place correctly once retracted.

    Samsung

The smartphones design form factor will allow for a great content viewing experience for the user. If the device is unveiled one of the notable things offered would be a better multi-media consumption via Samsung’s vibrant AMOLED panels. The company has yet to make any statement on any one of its many patents that have shown such unique designs or functionality.

Samsung Galaxy A30s Spotted On GeekBench

Samsung has been known to offer a beefier version of its existing smartphone offerings later down the road. These refreshed versions of launched lineups often seek to boost sales, while carrying an improved version of the successful handsets. Now, A fresh report states that a Samsung Galaxy A30s might be under development carrying the model number SM-A307FN.

    Samsung Galaxy A30s

The South Korean company is claimed to be working on a new Samsung Galaxy A30s (SM-A307FN) after being spotted on Geekbench. The software is used as a benchmarking tool to measure various levels of handset capabilities and raw computing power. Furthermore, a mysterious Samsung smartphone was seen on the platform that carried a model number relatively similar to the one given to the Galaxy A30 (SM-A305).

    Samsung Galaxy A30s

    Specification

Test scores seen at the Geekbench listing point at the Samsung Galaxy A30s being similarly equipped to the Galaxy A30. The device will sport the 14nm Exynos 7904 octa-core processor just like the Galaxy A30 alongside 3GB of RAM. Only this variant has been seen so far but a 4GB model is also expected to make an appearance. The Galaxy A40 was powered by a 4,000mAh battery that was capable of 15W fast charging, which might also be seen on the newer variant.

    Samsung Galaxy A30s

According to the report, Samsung Galaxy A30s scores nearly identical scores on the benchmarking software. The device scored 1,322 points in the single score test while reaching 4,116 points in the multi-core test. It is probable that the upcoming Galaxy A series entry will feature improvements in different areas. The Galaxy A30 had a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with 3GB or 4GB of RAM coupled with 32 and 64GB of ROM respectively.

It can be speculated that the Samsung Galaxy A30s might improve on the photographic capabilities of the original budget smartphone. The Galaxy A30 featured a dual camera setup on the rear, 16MP + 5MP. The primary sensor had an f/1.7 aperture, while the front-facing camera is a 16MP shooter with an f/2.0 aperture. It was a capable device, however, not a class-leading budget smartphone. The upcoming handset could potentially improve these specs or in a surprising move feature a triple camera on a budget.

    Samsung Galaxy A10s

    Price and Availability

Samsung Galaxy A30s could potentially be priced identically to the Galaxy A30. The standard version was launched on 28th February 2019 alongside the Galaxy A50 and was priced at INR 16,999. The A30s could potentially be priced similarly or slightly higher than the aforementioned price. The Galaxy A30 was launched in India so its improved variant is also expected to be available in the country.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5G Will Have A 3D Camera For Depth Sensing

Samsung Galaxy Note 5G Will Have A 3D Camera For Depth Sensing

Samsung is bracing for the launch of its latest smartphone lineup which will be called the Galaxy Note 10. The upcoming handset lineup will be revealed on the 7th of August at the Galaxy Unpacked event which is set to take place in New York. Unlike past iterations, the upcoming device will be available in four variants which will allegedly be called the Galaxy Note 10e, Galaxy Note 10+, Galaxy Note 10 5g and standard Galaxy Note 10.

A month before the official launch, a distinguishing camera feature of the high-end Galaxy Note 5G has been revealed by freshly granted trademark. The said trademark is filed with UK IPO (Intelectual Property Office) under the category 9 which associates with “camera for generating virtual 3D images“. This suggests that the Galaxy Note 5G will incorporate a ToF (Time Of Flight) camera sensor which was last seen on the Galaxy s10 5G.

For users who are unaware, A ToF camera uses infrared light (lasers invisible to human eyes) to determine depth information. The ToF sensor emits a light signal, which hits the subject and returns to the sensor. The time it takes to bounce back is then measured and provides depth mapping capabilities on any device incorporating them. This is somewhat similar to how a bat senses its surroundings with the help of ultrasonic sound.

The ToF sensors can capture up to 160fps (frames per second), therefore modern day smartphones that support live background blur feature, especially while capturing videos can largely benefit from this type of sensor.

Galaxy Note 10 5G Punch Hole
    Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Leaked

Besides, another notable feature that the camera on the Galaxy Note 10 5G is reported to have is a variable aperture which was first seen with the Galaxy S10. However, the upcoming device will support three different stops, which is a step up from Galaxy S10 5G’s two f stops. The variable aperture on the Galaxy S10 supports f/1.5 and f/2.4, while the Note 10 5G will also support an additional f/1.8. The variable aperture settings can be used to capture high-quality images in underexposed or overexposed (too dark or too bright) lighting conditions. In a scenario with too less light, the aperture can be set to the lowest setting f/1.5 and vice versa.

Prior leaks (1,2) and assumptions suggest that the Galaxy Note 10 5G will have the following specifications:

    • Chipset: Snapdragon 855, Exynos 9820 (region dependent)
    • Display: 6.7 inch, Super AMOLED, Punch Hole
    • RAM: upto 12 GB
    • ROM: upto 1 TB
    • Camera: 12 MP + 12 MP + 16 MP + ToF 3D Camera
    • Battery: 4,500 mAh

The claim of Galaxy Fold’s availability goes in line with the statement made by a senior Samsung executive. In the month of June, the aforementioned executive claimed that all the issues on the Galaxy Fold have been resolved and the device will soon hit the shelves.

Speaking of the Galaxy Fold’s availability in India, it is expected to be launched in the country only after the launch in major markets like the US which as previously mentioned is expected to happen by the end of this month. Samsung’s Galaxy A90 has been the centre of various rumours (1,2) that have been rather convoluting. Initial reports had pointed at the device being the Galaxy A80 renamed for different countries while a fresher rumour claimed it to be an entry to the upcoming Galaxy R series.  The latest leaks report that the Galaxy A90 is real and will, in fact, launch in two variants.

According to the famous leakster OnLeaks, The Galaxy A90 is said to ship in two variants with their model numbers being SM-A905 and SM-A908. One of these will likely be a “Pro” variant with beefier specs. Furthermore, the higher specced variant could also be the first A series smartphone to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. It is unclear what the standard Galaxy A90 would house but it will most probably be a mid-range chipset like the Snapdragon 730G as found in the Galaxy A80.

The biggest leaks to arrive is regarding the camera of the Galaxy A90 duo. SM-A905 is reportedly equipped with a triple camera set up consisting of a 48MP+12MP+5MP sensors with the new “Tilt OIS” feature. Similarly, the SM-A908 variant also sports the same setup but with different sensors, namely a 48MP+8MP+5MP configuration. Unlike the Galaxy A80, the leak suggests that the upcoming pair of smartphones will not feature any special form of motorized mechanism. Hence, no swivels and rotating cameras.

Additionally, the Galaxy A90’s SM-A908 variant is reported to receive an FHD+ SuperAMOLED Infinity-U display. Both the upcoming devices are said to be sized identically, with a 6.7-inch screen. On the other hand, the high-end SM-A905 is assumed to have a QHD panel with a punch hole.

Shockingly, the leak claims that only the affordable variant of the Galaxy A90 will receive 5G networking which will be skipped on the elder sibling. Samsung might be trying to make an appeal for the higher bandwidth on lower priced devices. This will seek to make the cost of entry to the new network more affordable. The move will likely compete with other OEMs that are equipping 5G modems on their affordable lineups. Samsung brought the first true 5G phone and is now seeking to win the race in lower price segments as well. Unfortunately, finer details are not available as even Samsung has yet to make any official statements regarding the Galaxy A90. Updates will be provided in the arriving weeks.

Earlier this year, Samsung launched the tenth iteration of the Galaxy S series of smartphones which carry the “Galaxy S10” branding. Following the successful launch of S10 lineup, Samsung is bracing for the launch of another flagship lineup of handsets, the Galaxy Note 10.

Unlike past years, the company will launch multiple variants of the 10th Gen Galaxy Note. The upcoming devices will allegedly be called the Galaxy Note 10e, Galaxy Note 10+, Galaxy Note 10 5G and the standard Galaxy Note 10.

Renders of the upcoming smartphones based on rumours and claims have previously surfaced on the internet. But with the latest leak, the actual images of Galaxy Note 10+ have been revealed by a user on the micro-blogging website, Twitter.

The Tweet consists of three images, out of which the first one clearly shows that the high end Galaxy Note 10 will be called Galaxy Note 10+ and not Galaxy Note 10 Pro which some reports in the past claimed.

The third image shared by the leakster reveals the rear of the Galaxy Note 10+. Although the image is very blurred, it can be derived that the smartphone will have a quad rear camera setup which past renders have shown.

The current leak does not provide any specifications of the Galaxy Note 10+ but they can be extracted from past leaks which were previously mentioned.

The Galaxy Note 10+ is reported to sport a 6.6 inch display which will house an under display fingerprint sensor. Also, it is claimed to have a piezoelectric sensor built in, therefore, the whole display can be used as an earpiece for listening to phone calls.

In terms of chipset, the Galaxy Note 10+ is destined to feature the Snapdragon 855 or the Exynos 9820 SoC which will depend on the region. The device is reported to feature a 4500 mAh battery which will support fast charging of 25 W or upwards.

Korean technology giant Samsung rebranded its wearable lineup by dropping the “Gear” label to adopting the iconic “Galaxy” moniker; starting from last year’s Galaxy Watch smartwatch. The company then launched a slew of devices under the new brand name, including the Galaxy Watch Active launched in the month of February this year. It is a fitness-focused wearable and a separate device from the original Galaxy Watch. Now, images of its successor, purportedly called the Galaxy Watch Active 2 have been leaked online.

As mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be a successor to the smartwatch released a few months ago. The design of the wearable revealed in the image is reminiscent of its predecessor, albeit with a few changes. Unlike the previous generation, the home/power button is round in shape; while the back button on the top right is rectangular. A red circle is also visible in one of the images; which is claimed to be just a design quirk. Over at the back, the device has a new design, with it sporting a circular ring around the heart rate sensor.

In terms of specifications, it has been revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will have two variants; one with LTE support and one with support for just Wi-Fi networks. The former will be powered by a 340mAh battery while the latter will be provided with a 237mAh cell. The smartwatch is said to ship with OneUI version 1.5, which is supposedly a considerable improvement over the current version 1.0. Unfortunately more details like the features and the launch date of the Galaxy Watch Active 2 are not known yet. However, the leaked images suggest the device is ready for primetime. While it is arguable that a four-month-old wearable does not need a successor, we trust Samsung to know better; and hope that the update is worth the asking price.
